Board Pipeline Initiative

The Board Pipeline Initiative prepares emerging leaders to serve confidently and effectively on nonprofit boards. Through a focused, five-week experience, participants build a strong foundation in governance, finance, fundraising, and board culture, while connecting with nonprofit partners committed to representative leadership.

WHO SHOULD APPLY:

BPI is designed for professionals interested in serving on nonprofit boards or committees who want a clear understanding of board governance, expectations, and impact. Participants may choose the cohort that best fits their schedule.

Registration for both cohorts opens January 21. Participation in BPI is at no cost, thanks to support from AmeriCorps. Because the program is cohort-based, participants are expected to attend all sessions in their selected cohort in order to graduate.

Are you a nonprofit seeking prepared, diverse board leaders?

BPI partners with nonprofit organizations that are committed to building strong, representative boards and leadership pipelines. Participating nonprofits gain access to a diverse pool of professionals who are prepared for board and committee service, increased visibility among emerging leaders, and intentional opportunities to build relationships with prospective board members.

What Nonprofit Participation Includes:

Nonprofit partners engage in BPI through two structured touchpoints designed to support meaningful connection and alignment.

Week 4: Nonprofit Introductions
During Week 4 (March 25 or June 23), participating nonprofits are invited to introduce their organization to BPI participants. Organizations share their mission, impact areas, governance structure, and current board or committee needs. This session allows nonprofits to highlight the skills, experiences, and perspectives they are seeking while beginning relationship-building with potential board and committee members.

Week 5: Graduation and Board Connections
During Week 5 (April 1 and July 7), nonprofit partners are invited to host a table at BPI’s in-person graduation celebration. This provides an opportunity to engage in deeper conversations with BPI graduates, discuss board and committee opportunities, and make facilitated connections that may lead to future board or committee placement.

Nonprofit partner registration opens soon.
